This category is for historical Cherokee people and contemporary Cherokee people. There are separate categories for people enrolled in one of the three federally recognized Cherokee tribes (the Cherokee Nation, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, and the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians), contemporary individuals who are not enrolled in any of the recognized Cherokee tribes but who are of Cherokee descent (People of Cherokee descent), and Cherokee people who died before 1907.
