Fracture of the hip.

[edit]

Just wanted to let you know that the statement made about a fractured hip turning into a full break is actually the exact same thing. Both the words fracture and break mean that a bone has been "busted". In medical terminology we use the term fracture, although shortened to ' # '. We use the term interchangeably due to some persons knowledge. And because some people believe that a break sounds more serious than a fracture. But both are broken. Tom Petty on bass guitar

[edit]

Petty extensively played bass guitar on recordings and in concert. He was the bassist in Mudcrutch in both their early and later years, he recorded bass on many Heartbreakers records, his solo albums and in one instance, a Johnny Cash album. Therefore, I believe bass guitar should be listed on his list of notable instruments. ChristianJosephAllbee (talk) 03:30, 1 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Petty is playing bass on this live version of Looking For The Magic by Dwight Twilley. His face can be clearly seen at 2:15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l24DFbedbJ0 2600:8807:5478:9D00:0:0:0:896C (talk) 12:04, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Songwriting Skills

[edit]

Petty had (or still has) a reputation for his ability to write songs that were relatively simple from a musical perspective but sounded fresh, engaging and sometimes extremely moving. 'Into the Great Wide Open' is an excellent example of condensing an epic story into a three-and-a-half minute pop song. It would be nice if someone more skilled in researching and writing about such things than I am could add a section on this aspect of his talent. Drums

[edit]

While most people wouldn't call Tom Petty a drummer, he did play all of the drums on the Highway Companion album, which to me warrants their inclusion under instruments. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.208.47.91 (talk) 15:55, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
