[edit]

I would like for the official name of Vietnam in the Wikipedia page to be the “Socialist Republic of Vietnam”, not the “Socialist Republic of Viet Nam”. The space is only used in Vietnamese, not English. 171.244.185.182 (talk) 04:51, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 Already done. Annh07 (talk) 07:35, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The number of provinces is actually 63, not 58

[edit]

You missed a few province there. I don't remember what are they, but I pretty sure there are 63 provinces.TheRedsAreMarching1223 04:57, 23 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@User:TheRedsAreMarching1223 I think you must be including the five municipalities--the five cities that don't belong to any province, and are at the same level as a province. They are numbered 1 through 5 on the interactive map. So, 58 provinces plus 5 cities with the status of provinces comes to 63 entities at the province level. Official Name

[edit]

In the lead it says "officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam", but footnote e says "Viet Nam" is the officially designated form of Vietnam. Shouldn't the official name in the lead then say "officially the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam"? Unbeatable101 (talk) 17:52, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Vietnam only has a space in Vietnamese (Việt Nam). English doesn’t. 171.244.185.182 (talk) 13:48, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ref formatting

[edit]

The choice of using short refs exclusively is a bit much I think; it adds huge length to the bottom of the article, and requires an extra click or hover-over to find what ref is leading to what source. Short refs are I think useful for when one source is cited multiple times. 211.43.120.242 (talk) 03:42, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Third

[edit]

In the infobox it says 3th century BC. It should be changed to 3rd because third is the correct word. Thirth would be incorrect. Thwaluigi (talk) 20:03, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Official language

[edit]

The Vietnamese Constitution only stipulates that Vietnamese is the national language, not the official language. Ramsey V (talk) 14:51, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm talking about legality but not reality so I think we need to add two words "de facto", like in the case of the official language in China. Ramsey V (talk) 14:53, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
