Hi, welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place. If you need editing help please have a look at Wikipedia:How to edit a page, or feel free to ask a question on the Village pump. BTW, I realised that you exchanged some flag images - your new images are much better than the old versions, but if you rename the files, could you please add the replaced files to Wikipedia:Votes for deletion - otherwise they become orphaned images. Thank you, and have a lot of fun on Wikipedia -- Cordyph 08:36 18 Jun 2003 (UTC)

North American flags.

[edit]
  • NEWFOUNDLAND - strong belief that the referendum to join canada was falsified, as late as last summer the govt of newfoundland was courting seperation, was a nation throughout the 1800s.
  • NOVASCOTIA - never recinded the motion in the legislature that stated the province did not accept confederation, was a self governing domion for almost 30 years prior to being forced into confederation in 1967
  • TEXAS - did vote to join the union, however, fought on the side of the south, still referes to iteself as the Republic of Texas, still says the pledge to the state right after the pledge to the US at school every morning
  • QUEBEC - The seperation movement IS called the soverignty movement.

Here is the definition of sovereignty: sov·er·eign·ty n. pl. sov·er·eign·ties

  • Supremacy of authority or rule as exercised by a sovereign or sovereign state.
  • Royal rank, authority, or power.
  • Complete independence and self-government.
  • A territory existing as an independent state.

So Non-soverign states, how are you defining that? Why the Confederate States of America or Acadia and not sitting governments with seperation movements, tendencies, or indeed, mythologies? -- User:WayeMason 13:02 19 Aug 2005 (UTC) (signature added by --Mevsfotw 14:05, 20 August 2005 (UTC))[reply]

I do not use the term Non-sovereign states, and I do not want to define non-sovereign nations. What I currently try to do, is to clean the page about Flags of non-sovereign nations, because this page contains a totally non-encyclopedic mixture of anything. This page would be similar to a page about Fish and other marine creatures I like, such as starfish and snails, but leave me alone with the mussels (and I also include some insects and stones I recently found)

Flags

[edit]

Hi. Er, maybe I didn't make myself clear: controversy aside, I don't see the point of collecting flags, full stop. Flags exist in appropriate articles, and there's List of active autonomist and secessionist movements for an overview of that topic. Splitting Flags_of_non-sovereign_nations may (or may not) reduce the controversy, but as far as I'm concerned, I still don't see the point of any of it. It seems unnecessary duplication, which is always a bad thing because it's another thing to update, get vandalised, attract controversy and use Wikipedians' energy. I don't want to discuss it - Wikipedians see a need for all sorts of lists which I don't - but I just wanted to clarify what I meant. Rd232 14:38, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you, actually. My point is that Mevsfotw is deleting stuff that clearly has as much tenious legitimacy to be on the page as some of the stuff he is leaving. Scotland, conquered. Quebec, conquered. The south, conquered. Why the later and not the two former? I added Nova Scotia because it has as much right to be there as Acadia, or the South. I will add it AGAIN when you are done all your work, because it will be logically consistant with the illogic of the page. An admin should mark the page for deletion. Finding FOTWers

[edit]

Hi Markus!

You may or may not want to add {{User FOTWer}} to your user page. --Palnatoke 09:20, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, since I just noticed that you created civil ensign, you might be interested in my proposal to merge naval ensign into ensign. My only issue is that naval ensign is currently looking too small to justify an article, but of course you may have, or know of, plans to expand it. If you'd like to discuss, please do so on the ensign talk page. Cheers, — Johan the Ghost seance 17:29, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noted your comments on Lábaro. I don't really know much about the topic; I just translated it from Spanish. I'd encourage you to change what you think is POV into a more neutral version, perhaps by mentioning the controversy etc. Your current treatment of the page seems to be fairly dismissive...surely there's some good info in there, and it'd be nice if you used your expertise to sort it out a bit. Erudy 22:01, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This page is difficult to improve, as everything is POV or rather fiction. So I will suggest the deletion of the page altogether. The bigger problem is the Spanish page: my Spanish is enough to read it, but certainly far from adequate for writing and discussing topics like this.--Mevsfotw 09:49, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FOTW images

[edit]

I got your email about the FOTW images; the German copyright law confuses me. On here, the main problem I see is that despite our images being non-commercial, people will just tag the images as fair use and call it a day. We still have recourses, but right now, I am still trying to find out how many images of ours is on FOTW. It's a very huge number (600-700 images), but they are being whittled down each and every day. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 17:02, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
